The Aces play some of the badest pure raw blues today.  They  have a no holds attitude on their musical creations.  The Aces write all of their own tunes, covering only a few obscure blues songs.  The Aces stride to form their own musical nitch just like Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf did years ago.  The band classifies their music as romp.  It's a cross between the old Chicago sounds meeting the new sounds from the Mississippi delta.

Sky O'Banion leads the band on harp and vocals, singing what he feels and blowin' harp with raw power.  Derek Irving carries his attitude thru his guitar.  Playing with grinding rhythms and textured leads, his guitar distorts like a Mississippi train.  David Burke holds down the bottom on second guitar, rumbling like a fight in a dark alley.  Then there's Mike "Junk Johnson" Gutsch on drums.  His solid romps create the final piece in the Aces sound.

The Aces have been breaking ground for the last 2 years.  With successful shows at The Sonoma County Blues Festival, and a variety of bay area clubs, the band continues to gain fans of all types of music.  The Aces have no desire to be categorized as any certain of music other than romp.  Be sure to catch the band.  You'll have one hell of a time.

"The aces is one of my favorite up and coming bands.  They love the blues and play it with plenty of feeling and respect.  They have a tough sound and I always look forward tot he chance to hear them."   - Charlie Musslewhite
